As with any great vacation, it had to come to an end. We left early on Tuesday to drive back to buffalo and fly back to the sweltering heat of Arizona. We ate lots of great food and spent lots of time enjoying the beach and the sun. But it is good to be back home. So...now we just have to get regulated to the time zone again (Henry has been up before 4 AM both days we have been home). And I have a ton of stuff I want to get done before Henry's Birthday. It is only a week away! Sorry the pictures are a little out of order...I uploaded them in a hurry and didn't have time to sort them! Enjoy!

VACATION at the Beautiful Lake Onterio
I was going to do a post before we left for vacation, but I didn't have a chance.
It was a whirlwind of last classes for the summer and packing for our trip. We were gone for about a week and we had a wonderful time. Next year when we go, we will definitely go for longer. Traveling from the West coast to the East coast, you basically lose an entire day to travel. Plus, it takes a while to get used to the 3 hour time change. Our flight to Buffalo was good. Long, but good. Then we had to drive to Paluski (which is the town on lake Onterio). We got in late and we were all tired from a full day of travel. Henry was a trooper and did well, considering he had to sit in his carseat for a full 7 hours!
Thursday all of Andrew's family came over. Henry got to see his Great Grandma and Great Grandpa, Great Aunt Margot, Aunties Barbara, Bonnie, and Margot. We had a BEAUTIFUL day on the beach. The waves were a little crazy and there was a little bit of wind, but overall a very nice day to sit and rest and try to get un-jet lagged! Plus, because it was windy we saw a couple of kite surfers.
Friday, it rained the entire day. It was definitely a change from the HOT and humid weather we were having in Arizona. But we had to spend the day in the little trailer. Luckily, where we were staying had a rec hall and an arcade, so we took Henry for a short while to do a craft (we made a 50's Mobile) and we spent 2 dollars at the arcade and Henry got to be a Fireman and a racecar driver. What fun! Plus we had to get a little creative since there was not much space. So we built a fort for Henry in the living room.
Saturday, we went into Syracuse and went to the farmer's market. It was great. We found a bunch of stuff that Henry could eat. He has thus far enjoyed a cookie, pasta, oatmeal, and peanut brittle. Plus, we got to go on a tractor ride. After spending an hour or two at the market we headed over to the mall where they had a carousel. Henry had a GREAT time. He loved the carousel. Plus he got to ride the elevator (the mall was 5 stories and big windows in the elevators). Then we spent the afternoon on the beach with the Aunties and Uncle Greg.
Sunday, we made the drive down to Phoenix to visit with Great Grandma Doris and Great Grandpa Henri. It was good to see them again. Henry enjoyed their bird feeders and really like to give all the bunny statues in their front yard a bath in the bird bath. He did this multiple times through the visit. Plus he was a good helper and he was sweeping off their back porch and was excited to see that they had a riding lawn mower just like daddy. He also showed off his dance moves for them. They had a singing dancing Alvin (the chipmunk doll) and he thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread.
Monday, we went to the Syracuse Zoo. They zoo is much smaller than the Phoenix zoo, but it is a perfect size for kids under 5. There is one loop and they have all the main zoo animals and on Monday morning is was not busy at all. Henry got to see lots of animal since it was slightly cooler and overcast. Plus he got to sit and watch the Penguins, which we don't have at the Phoenix zoo.
