What a difference a day makes!

I am not sure if I am in a haze from not sleeping well at night (on top of Henry still being all wierd one of our new neighbors car alarms keeps going off in the middle of the night!), or if I am in some kind of a time warp, but I can't believe it is already Thursday. Please note, there is a new post from back on 8/19. I meant to blog more, but Henry took a very short nap that day and it got forgotten about. His stats from his Dr. Appointment are listed there.

The weather is getting hot yet again. It is supposed to be over 90 again. I really don't know what is going on. It is the end of August and we are supposed to be getting into the cooler weather. Lucky this heat wave is only going to be two days, then a storm is coming and we will cool back down into the 70s. I am determined to get Henry out today for a walk. Hopefully it won't be too warm when he gets up from his nap. We have figured out how to keep Henry happy in his running stroller. Give him a book. He loves book and we were out hiking last weekend and we clipped one onto the stoller and he was happy...smiling even. Who would have guessed.

I am not sure where to start since it has been so long since I have posted. Andrew took Henry to the zoo on the 16th and gave me a "mom's day". I got a manicure, pedicure, and a massage and some much needed rest. Henry had really not been sleeping up to that point so I was exhausted and grumpy. Andrew had never been to the zoo before, so he had a good time, but as anything on the weekend it was busy.

We also went on a Nature Hike last weekend at the Cooper Mountain Nature Park. It was a really nice trail, but somehow Andrew got the stroller downhill and I had to push it uphill. This is when we discovered about Henry's stroller book. Plus, there was a really nice play park for him at the end. No swings, but a slide and a sand box.

For those of you wondering, Andrew and I have less than 60 days left in OR. It has gone by fast, but I could have done without all the heat with no AC. We are really going to celebrate our birthdays plus our anniversary when Mom comes down to visit. We are treating ourselves to two days of touring the wine country and a night without Henry. It will be the first overnight I have spend away from him, and the first time we have a Parents overnight! We are both excited, but hope for the sake of Grandma's sanity, he is sleeping better!

Henry is in such an amazing phase right now. He has mastered walking around and now he has turned his attention to learning and doing as much as he can. He has the concept of things can go in other things, so he is now trying to put everything in everything. He put a puzzle piece down my shirt. Even if it doesn't fit (like a large ball into a small cup) he tries to get it to go in. He had a very cute moment the other day where he got a large ball to balance on a small cup and he held it up in the air and he was SO proud of himself. He also gets very frustrated when he can't do things. Andrew has been working with the nesting cups and when Henry can't do what daddy does he crys and pouts. Andrew and I keep getting floored at how fast Henry is learning. He is SO smart. He can figure out things that I don't even know where he learned them. He just watches and mimics. Which I guess every kid does, so maybe he is not really smart, and this is the normal developmental pace of a 12-13 year old. It is so hard to get picture of him now because he is in constant motion, I think that is why I have so many videos!

Henry's new skills
-He likes to carry everything around on his arm like a purse. This includes anything with a hole big enough for him to get his arm into.
-He can now lift the toilet lid cover.
-He can go down the stairs (at least he knows how and has done it once before.)
-He can High-5
-He can look at books and flip "peek a boo" flaps by himself.
-He can unload everything out of the dishwasher
-He can now drink from a sippy cup and no longer needs a bottle.
-He can point and ask "What's that?", but it sounds more like "zat".
-He has figured out if a door is shut he has to turn the door knob, but is still too short to reach them (thank goodness).
-He has figured out that the little white safety plugs, go in the sockets. If he finds one (like if we plug in a fan and leave safety plug on the window sill) he will walk around to all the plugs and try to put it in.
-Can take his diaper after going potty to the diaper pail and put it in.
-Can sign about 20 signs.
-Tries to parrot back words after asking "what's that". Ususally he just smiles and laughs or he will do some form or "bubbles". (Examples: Ball = Ball-bles, Up = Bup)
-Knows who mama and dada are. Andrew is no longer mama too!
-Can bring you a book/ball/or a hat when asked.
