Flagstaff, Sledding and SNOW!!!

Sledding
Well, Andrew and I finally made the trip up to Flagstaff with the kids for their first snow experience.  The drive there was pretty good until we almost reached Flagstaff when it started snowing.  We saw one really bad accident where a car had flipped off the road and there were 3 other cars smashed up.  Scary!  But luckily we were not in it and we made it up with no problems.  We left later than we anticipated (not a huge surprise) but made it to the Snow Play area before lunchtime.  Which worked out well.  We got an hour of sledding in, went back to the car and ate lunch and warmed up and went back out for an hour or so.    The kids had so much fun and it was actively snowing.  Which was pretty neat.  But Jillian kept taking her hat off and then getting cold.  After lunch we made her keep it on and she did much better. Henry, who is always cold, was actually fine all day.  Good thing we were able to find good snow clothes for them.
Then we stayed at the Drury Inn, which was actually quite nice.  We got dinner (which was not a great dinner), drinks and breakfast included.  Plus they had an indoor pool.  So after sledding for the day we went to the hotel and swam. Then had popcorn and soda (also included), and then we went to 'Dinner'.  We got 3 free drinks and we got finger foods, salad, potatoes, soup and kid friendly food.  So hot dogs, mac n cheese, chicken fingers.  Would not be what I wanted every night for dinner but for a spur of the moment needs to be cheap trip, it was perfect.  Breakfast was good too, eggs, sausage, waffles, biscuits and gravy, donuts, cereal, oatmeal...pretty much a complete spread.  The only bad thing was that Henry's neck/back was sore.  Probably from one bad crash sledding and sleeping in a weird position. I don't think he has ever had that kind of soreness before.  Poor thing...stinks getting old!
This deer was licking the salt off our car.
We then packed up and headed to Bearizona.  Which is a drive-thru zoo.  It was lots of fun.  After doing the drive, we went through the walking part of the zoo.  It was cold, but the kids were troopers.  Then we stopped back in Flag for lunch and then we drove home and Andrew made really good time (he said it was because we were coming down the mountain.)   So a quick trip, but enough cold and snow for this Arizonian for a while.
